Hospital Leaders Share Vision for New Construction at 70 Francis Street
During a special administrative leaders group presentation on Wednesday, August 11, President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA shared the vision of BWH’s core campus along Francis Street. The vision is one founded upon the principle that in order to save and enrich more lives, BWH will always look for new and innovative ways to improve how care is delivered. At the heart of the hospital’s strategic vision is a plan to expand clinical services along Francis Street, providing a new state-of-the-art health center.
“I want BWH to be the best healthcare institution it can, by living up to our mission of excellence in patient care, teaching and research,” said Gottlieb. “With your input, ideas and voices, together we have realized that to strengthen our medical service to the community, we need to improve patient flow and centralize our key, clinical offerings.”
A major step in a series of campus wide improvement initiatives, Gottlieb announced that BWH plans to construct a 10-story, high-tech, state-of-the art clinical building on the site of 70 Francis Street, the lot directly across from the hospital’s main entrance at 75 Francis Street. The goals are to provide expanded operating space underground and equip the hospital with up to 30 additional private rooms that will transform care at the bedside, as well as offer a more nurturing environment and encourage greater family interaction in patient care.
“I thank all who have contributed to this project so far and for your continued enthusiasm and support. With this plan in hand I see a very exciting and promising future as we build and strengthen BWH’s ability to serve the community,” Gottlieb said.
